Special Health Resources for Texas

Clinic

The Jim Meyer Memorial Clinic on 4th Street is a Federally Qualified Health Clinic (Look Alike) that is open to anyone in the Longview community regardless of ability to pay. The clinic works on a sliding scale fee basis and does take all major insurance plans as well.  Even if a person has difficulty meeting the minimum sliding scale fee, it is still possible to be seen and receive primary health care. If you have a medical emergency, you should immediately contact a local emergancy room. The clinic is not equipped to handle emergency or urgent care issues or medical issues that require x-rays to determine the problem and it is not a substitute for an emergency room.  The clinic attempts to get patients in to see a care giver as quickly as possible and can take some walk in appointments, but please be advised that if you are a "walk in" you will have to be worked into the existing schedule and you may have to wait.

Dr. Anita Scribner is the medical director
Margaret Dodson is the Nurse Practitioner

The clinic can be contacted by dialing:  903-234-8808 and asking for the medical clinic.

Agapenet is a program for various agencies in the city of Longview that is funded by the Community and Presbytery Committee of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Longview.  This program is designed to provide primary health care to persons referred from these various local agencies at a reduced cost or at no cost to the individual. Current partner agencies in Agapenet are: Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Club, Circles, Longview Interfaith Hospitality Network, Newgate Ministries, Compassionate Care Clinic of Alpine Church of Christ, and the Child Advocacy Center. It is hoped that, over time, other agencies and service providers will be included in the program. If you are interested in making a donation to this very important program, please feel free to do so through this website and indicate the purpose of the donation. The program not only assists in primary health care, but also is working on providing assistance with medications, diabetes supplies, innoculations, and referrals to other services. If you are from one of these agencies, the point of contact for the program is Cindy Samford. ( csamford@shrt.net ). Please contact her for referrals or any addtitional information you might need.
